Personal Profile
Prof. Lirong Zheng, a National Specially Enlisted Expert, Overseas High-Level Talent, and Member of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council of China. He received a Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1996, and a Ph.D. degree in electronic system design from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden in 2001. Afterwards he worked at KTH as a research fellow, associate professor, full professor, and the founding director of iPack VINN Excellence Center of Sweden. He served as the dean of School of Information Science and Technology at Fudan University from 2010 to 2020. He has been engaged in the research of electronic circuits and systems for ambient intelligence and applications. His research experience and interests include wireless sensors and on-chip systems for Internet-of-Things (IoT), edge computing and distributed systems for Artificial Intelligence-of-Things (AIoT), energy-efficient neuromorphic chips and brain-inspired supercomputing systems. He has authored and co-authored more than 400 international reviewed publications and 2 books, and holds over 10 patents and multiple industrialization achievements.
Laboratory of Brain-inspired Computing
The group focus on the research of highly reconfigurable domain-specific neuromorphic circuit, architecture, and system, as well as large-scale neuromorphic simulation and related software and hardware design, inspired by the modularized and hierarchical information processing mechanism of the human brain. Our works aim to realize brain-like architecture to conduct human cognitive functions, and eventually fulfill the goal of whole-brain emulation. In recent years, we have developed the domain-specific neuromorphic circuit, architecture, and chip system that are characterized by high scalability, decentralization, event-driven, real-time, and high reliability. Targeting multi-objective and multi-task processing, our current research is able to achieve effective resource utilization and efficient task distribution through coordination among billions of neurons.
